Most of these stories are "hard" science fiction.
Most of you are scratching your head and wondering just WTF is hard SF. In a nutshell,
in hard SF, there has to be a scientific basis for everything. And yes, I have
it.
At this time, I have the following free reads for you to pick
from...

Next, here are a few stories you can read online...
Ever heard of "Flash Fiction"? This is a complete
story in less than 1,000 words. The exact definition varies a bit, but the
"official" definition used in the print world is 1,000 words or less.
At
794 words, the story below more than fits that definition.

While not flash
fiction, this story is still quite short, only 2,561 words long.
Alligator Alley was published many
years ago under a name I no longer use by a SF/Fantasy magazine that went the
way of the dinosaurs. It was fun to write and, I think, still fun to read.
By way of a
disclaimer, remember that there are some geographical elements that have
changed over the more than twenty years since this story was written. I haven't
heard anyone, even locals, call US 41 Alligator Alley for a very long time.
The tourist agencies
finally won.

Swish! is another old story that was published
originally in 1990 by a SF Fan Club newsletter. The club and newsletter are
long gone now, but the story lives on.
This is a humorous
short story that's only 2,250 words long. I think you'll get a few laughs out
of it!

Magic Love is an unfinished story. Don't expect any kind
of an ending to this one!
While it's not a
finished story, this is an ADULT story. NC-17 rating! If adult language and
explicit sex upsets you, don't read this one!
I started writing this
back in 2006 and never got any farther than what you see here. I really don't
know why, but I just lost interest in the plot. I think I actually started
writing the story because of the name of the heroine. I did use that name in
another unpublished story that also went unfinished for entirely different
reasons.
By the way, this was
never intended to be a short story...this is the beginning of a full-length
novel and is more than 26,000 words long. There are books out there,
particularly e-books, that are shorter than this unfinished story!

This is another short
story but it has a historical significance...
Garbage is the very first
story in what later became the Immortal Love Universe. I had been playing with
an idea for a while and I needed to get something on paper to help my thoughts
fall into place. This is the result.
This is also the only
story with a character that used my name! Melodee Ullmann was originally a man
named Melvin Ullmann, but he/she just didn't work. I went to a costume party
and wore a coconut bra and grass skirt and when I bent to pick up a drink at
the bar, I pinched my boob. That was too good a scene not to use, so Melvin
became Melodee.

What Do You Do With A Talking Monkey?
This is another short
story with a history...
What Do You Do With A Talking Monkey? was written when I
was in the sixth grade. I paraphrased the title from a story by another author.
My teacher hated it,
but the other kids loved it.
I have no idea why.
