Melodee: Welcome, Moira! I'd like to first learn a little about
how you got into this crazy business. Tell me about the first story you ever
wrote.
Moira: The first story I ever wrote was a very short romance and
while it was almost twenty years ago it definitely would fit into today’s
erotic romance category. I hung onto to those scribbled pages until a few years
ago when they were lost during one of our many moves, but I do remember most of
it and hope to rewrite it someday.
Melodee: I hate when that happens! That's why I have everything on
computer and backed up to like thirty different places! What made you decide to
become an author?
Moira: During high school I had written a few short stories and
while I hadn’t put pen to paper so to speak in eighteen years I suddenly found
myself needing to express the chaotic and jumbled feelings inside myself.
Melodee: Just remember that all authors are just a little nuts!
What subgenres within erotica romance do you write in?
Moira: Currently, I am writing contemporary and suspense erotic
novels and most recently have started two paranormal novels that I hope to
complete simultaneously. The fun part to those is that they will both have
sequels and I am already scheming out their plots.

Melodee: Wow...Hepburn, Connery, and a '63 Vette...Makes my mouth water
just thinking about it! Where do you live?
Moira: I currently live in a rural area outside of Kansas City, MO.
Melodee: Being a Show-Me State native, I can relate to that! Where
would you like to live if there were no barriers to consider?
Moira: Without a doubt- Maui.
Melodee: Ah! Just another day in paradise! Do you write full time
or part time? Do you ever wish that you did the other?
Moira: At the present I am only able to write part time, but my
wonderful husband is helping me to fulfill my dream to switch to full time
author. If all goes well I should be able to devote most of my time to writing
by the end of the year.
Melodee: Cool!

Melodee: Hmpf...a lot of folks seem to like Nickleback, but I
can't say that I have ever "heard" them. Since I'm totally deaf,
"listening" to music takes on a unique spin for me. What was the
longest time you have ever gone without having sex?
Moira: Three weeks and it was torture. I had to coerce my husband
into breaking the rules that the doctor had set, which was supposed to be six
weeks!
Melodee: Yikes! Do you like tattoos on yourself?
Moira: I have two tattoos and absolutely love them on other people.
Every time I see a tattoo I have to try and look at it inconspicuously. Tattoos
fascinate me as I see them to be a page of a book from someone’s life. You get
a quick glimpse into their soul.
Melodee: We'll have to compare artwork sometime. Do you try out
the sex scenes from your stories?
Moira: I will have to say quite the opposite. The sex scenes in my
stories come from real life.
Melodee: Damn it!

Melodee: I have a character in the Immortal Love Universe who is
pretty well addicted to Mai-Tais. She claims they help her think! Tell me about
your latest release.
Moira: Lake Shore Escape is my newest release with Siren Publishing
and it is the third novel I’d ever written. One secret that up until now only
two people knew about is that the doctor in the book was inspired by a real
life doctor. Within minutes of meeting the man one afternoon I knew I had a
story.
Anyway, I was able to combine my two favorite subjects of romance
and suspense into a twisted tale and come up with Dr. Jared Dalton and Samantha
Brooks. The pair are thrown together when a serial killer doesn’t quite get the
job done and Samantha ends up under Dr. Dalton’s care.
While they resist their desires at first, they finally give in and
let’s just say that his bedside manner leaves nothing to the imagination.
Melodee: That sounds cool! What writing projects are you currently
working on?
Moira: At the present I am working on two paranormal novels that
are completely unrelated, yet both will have sequels. The first delves into the
ever popular vampire world and the other takes us into a realm of magic and
dragons in present day Ireland. I am very excited about both as I have always
had a fascination with vampires and dragons. While they’re extremely fun to
write I find that the fantasy world still requires just as much research as a
contemporary novel.
Melodee: I can't wait!

Melodee: Now let's see if we can help a few folks out there. How
do you deal with rejections from publishers?
Moira: Rejections can be looked at a couple of ways. The obvious is
that someone didn’t like your work and you can be offended which is
understandable considering you’ve probably poured your heart and soul into your
writing. However, I prefer to look at a rejection as an opportunity to analyze
and improve. Being open minded can give you insight to your areas of weakness
and help you improve so that the next time you submit your work you might just
find yourself on the receiving end of an acceptance letter.
Melodee: Good idea! How do you deal with writer's block?
Moira: What’s that? If I find myself struggling to add to a
particular scene I will jump to another part of the story and type away.
Typically, for me, I find that a constructive distraction helps me to refocus
on the area and then look out because I’ll type non-stop for hours once I’ve
started.
